JOB PURPOSE AND IMPACT


The Merchant II will take responsibility for trading rapeseeds in the Polish market, as well as opportune shipments from Poland to other regions.  This person will work with the origination team to establish volume targets and provide rapeseed pricing information.  In addition, this trader will take speculative positions on rapeseed (flat cash and premium) trading and run a speculative Matif trading account.  


This role will contribute to handling a supplier base and fulfill transactions delivering rapeseeds that meet production requirements and specifications in terms of timing, volume, quantity and cost.  We seek a professional who will help buy and sell rapeseeds from/to country elevators, producers, feed mills and processors.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Accurate administration of daily risk positions and activity.
  • Excel in contract knowledge and monetize finalization / quality kickers
  • Develop relationships with suppliers to create the correct market access for supply of rape seed including external suppliers and internal stakeholders such as Hub, seed originating Cargill offices.
  • Establish a purchasing pricing strategy and daily bid prices on a real-time basis 
  • Negotiate purchases contracts with external customers
  • Ensuring external supplier exposures are within agreed and current limits
  • Accountable for daily & monthly PNL reporting for Polish rapeseed crush & Origination book
  • Collaborate with transportation and logistics, quality assurance, customer managers and credit manager to ensure efficient execution.
  • Plan purchases and transportation to maximize profitable use of stock and storage facilities.
  • Research and analyze various freight opportunities in the marketplace to maximize margin.
  • Ensure the flow of information from Polish seed market to Hub and wider European team
  • Drive continuous improvement and timely delivery of accurate Supply & Demand's and in-depth local market analysis (customers, suppliers, competitors) for rapeseed.
  • Provide in-depth contribution to the team analysis of the Supply & Demand and local market analysis to identify trends and project future outcomes and apply this when creating local and group merchandising/ risk management game plans.
  • Understanding of rapeseed FSQR legislation and industry regulations as well as the associated commercial implications 
  • Enter routine data and run specialty reports from our contract management databases and systems.
  • Work directly with customers, suppliers and business counterparts to meet their needs in solving routine problems, and addressing complaints and concerns.
  • Work under general supervision and independently solve moderately complex issues while referring more complex problems to a higher-level staff.
